Betrayal Song 2

You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi

This song relates to the topic of betrayal. It starts off by saying that the singer has been "shot through the heart." This is a result of being betrayed. He goes on to say that the traitor shows an "angel's smile" and promises him "heaven" but puts him "through hell." This shows that the traitor seems friendly and loving, but in reality she is not nice. This reflects the relationship between Caesar and Brutus. Brutus was Caesar's best friend, however he betrayed and killed him.

In the chorus, the singer sings, "I play my part and you play your game." He is saying that he does what he needs to do to have a good relationship, however the traitor plays games with him. The next four lines are very important to the topic.
"You paint your smile on your lips.
Blood red nails on your fingertips.
A schoolboy's dream, you act so shy.
Your very first kiss was your first kiss goodbye."
The singer is saying that the traitor's smile is fake, much like Brutus's friendship and that although she has a smile, she has blood on her fingers. This is similar to Brutus, because although he was nice to Caesar, he ended up having Caesar's blood on his hands.
